About Araluen

Araluen is a vibrant community where people’s opinions matter

We provide quality NDIS disability services and supports for adults with intellectual disabilities. Our sites are located in Melbourne’s north-east suburbs.
Araluen began in the 1960s by a group of frustrated parents. These families started a playgroup for their children in a garage in Kew because there were just no better options for people with intellectual disability at the time. By forming their own group, these families created a place where their children could belong, be safe and learn outside their homes.
Those parents went on to start the service that has grown to become Araluen as we’re known today. Ever since then, our progress has been based on imagination and determination. Araluen continues to embrace change for the exciting new opportunities it can bring. We listen to people. Then we do our best to respond with high-quality, safe supports that lead to a better life for participants.

Our Support Bases

At each of our locations, we offer many on-site learning activities and supports. From home base, you can learn the skills you need to achieve your goals. Then you can branch out into the community with increased self-confidence and abilities. Some of our sites are located right next to public transport. So this puts you within easy reach of useful public facilities.

Araluen’s Support Bases are located across Melbourne’s northeast suburbs. We are proud and active members of the Banyule, Nillumbik and City of Whittlesea communities, and the surrounding areas.
