Sue Morter

Sue’s work is all about a voyage of the Soul, an honest record of a sensitive person’s response to contemporary life. Sue approaches her drawing and painting directly, with no preliminary studies, her energy coming from a spontaneous and unpremeditated impulse. She’s eliminated recognisable subject matter replacing it with nonrepresentational shapes, mostly thick and thin rhythmic coils of coloured line which stand out in assertive texture and relief. By recreating, amplifying and exaggerating these forms, Sue reveals a world full of character. This is Sue’s personal calligraphy and natural gift as a draftswoman.
