Araluen

Transport

Araluen provides limited transport on mini buses for clients to travel to their day programs. Some clients are transported by their families, taxis and public transport. The catchment area for commuter transport from people’s homes is restricted to a 7 kilometre radius from where they attend their day program. We currently have a waiting list of people desiring to utilize commuter transport on our buses.

People are transported to community based activities on a regular basis. We have upgraded our vehicle fleet to improve safety, comfort and economy. Our drivers have established supportive relationships with our clients. The bus runs are often a feature of life at Araluen. Many jokes are shared on the buses and the choice of music that is played can be quite diverse!

Centrelink provides a Mobility Allowance for people with disabilities who are in paid employment, voluntary work, vocational training, undertaking independent living skills training or a combination of paid work and training and who are unable to use public transport without substantial assistance.  See Mobility Allowance for further information.
