Araluen

Services

At Araluen we ensure that people’s opinions are important. We call this person-centred planning and we take it very seriously. A unique plan is designed for every participant. Through this process we are continually working with families, listening to people’s dreams, promoting choices and doing all we can to see that they come to fruition, because one size does not fit all.

There are many barriers, as people have concerns about safety, money and risks. Our person-centred planning is not the end point - it is just the beginning of a journey for people living out their hopes and achieving their goals through day programs and their home.

There are 90 different day programs on offer each week in which our people participate. There truly is something for everyone. We provide permanent accommodation for 24 residents in homes that are fully staffed.

Our Day Services are coordinated from four locations; Lower Plenty, Rosanna, Turnham House (Rosanna) and Hurstbridge.  Activities are based on each individual’s interests and choices. Parents and carers are involved in determining annual goals to be achieved through program choices.

The Art Program continues to produce amazing quality work and some of our artists have had the thrill of community exhibitions and sale of their works. The variety of sports on offer ensures that people are able to participate in activities that they enjoy and at their own standard. We have some budding basketball champions not to mention our bocce stars. A number of our people continue to enjoy supported paid employment and derive great satisfaction as productive employees.
