Community Options

Community Options programs are based Lower Plenty and Rosanna. Programs promote opportunities and support for all clients. Clients are assisted to maintain and improve life skills, to maximize choice and to work towards achieving their chosen goals and interests via centre and community based programs.

The programs developed are subject to individual interests, preferences and choice.

Programs available at Community Options Lower Plenty fit into the following broad categories - sport and recreation, health and leisure, performing and creative arts, horticulture, life skills, valued work and communication

Throughout the week there are opportunities to access a variety of programs that are based in the community as well as on site including woodwork, lawn bowls swimming, attending sports events, art, drama and cooking.

The base for Community Options Rosanna is a safe and secure purpose built facility providing programs and activities to meet the individual needs of up to 40 clients. Clients may work in paid or volunteer positions such as assisting the elderly in nursing homes. There is always the opportunity to learn new skills or to just socialise with friends. Through a range of activities we develop individual skills that will enable our people to experience a better quality of life.

The Rosanna centre is in close proximity to many community services and facilities.  This allows all clients the opportunity to access the broader community and participate in day to day activities.

The Rosanna centre has great neighbours. The Rosanna Bowling Club and Rosanna Tennis Club have been very supportive.  These two facilities are utilised in our Recreation and Leisure Programs improving ball skills and hand-eye coordination and, of course,  lots of social interaction. We reciprocate by providing the gardening crew that maintains the Tennis Club's front lawn.

Programs offered by both Community Options Units are subject to ongoing development according clients' individual needs and outcomes.

Hearing Impaired:

Highly trained and skilled staff specializing in Auslan provides hearing impaired clients the opportunity and skills to participate in both on and off site programs.

Staff also benefit from interacting with hearing impaired clients throughout the day by communicating and learning Auslan.
