The Araluen Transport Service is used by clients to travel to Araluen and to community based activities. Taxis and public transport are also available to access the day services.
The Araluen Transport Service has 2 arms –
- Commuter Transport between clients' homes and Araluen centres or community-based programs;
- Program Transport for use during day for community access programs.
The catchment area for commuter transport from people's homes extends to a 7 kilometre radius from each of the Lower Plenty and Rosanna centres.
We have upgraded our vehicle fleet to improve safety, comfort and economy. Our drivers have established supportive relationships with our clients. The bus runs are often a feature of life at Araluen. Many jokes are shared on the buses and the choice of music that is played can be quite diverse!
Centrelink provides a Mobility Allowance for people with disabilities who are in paid employment, voluntary work, vocational training, undertaking independent living/life skills training or a combination of paid work and training and who are unable to use public transport without substantial assistance. See Mobility Allowance for further information.
